Nissan Repair: Replacing alternators, nissan altima, old battery

Question
93 Nissan Altima.  Battery died, shop said alternator was bad.  How hard is it to replace the alternator if I bought the parts.  Is it just the alternator or are there other parts that need changing. Can I do myself?

Answer
Yes Eric you can do it yourself.  It will also be cheaper for you in the long run.  The only parts to replace it the battery and altinator.

The best thing for you to do is REPLACE BOTH parts at the same time.  The reason for this is.  Yes the altinator may be bad, but if you but a new altinator in with the same battery.  The new alt could cause the old battery to burn out a cell.

So your best bet is replace BOTH at the same time.

Good luck.
