Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: ck engine light, oldsmobile 98, cam gear

I have an 91 oldsmobile 98 the ck cngine light was on the code i got was 42 what dose that mean. the car will act like its going to cut off while driving but has not. can u help tys

I am sorry but I have NO way to look up ANYTHING for vehicles from 1998 and earlier.
You MAY want to try another expert.
I THINK the code 42 was ignition related, from memory, it's been a LONG time.
I would HIGHLY suspect the Cam button and magnet, located on the cam gear. If I'm not mistaken, again this is from memory, I THINK that was a cause for code 42.
