Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 99 buick century, rear brakes, buick century

Question
QUESTION: I was driving my 99buick century when all of a sudden during heavy breaking, the break peddle went all the way to the floor and i could hear like air release from under the dash... it seems as if i have some rear brakes enough to stop if i have enough room. but NO front break. I filled the resivoir and manually pressed the break peddle and still could hear a air release from under the dash as the peddle would go al the way to the floor. I seem to be able to pump them up a little but not much. both the break warning light comes on and the no traction light come on or stay on. any help would be appreciated
thank you

Doug

QUESTION: Can you explain the brake booster...i have noticed i can pump up the brakes when the engine is off.. as soon as i start the motor it goes all the way to the floor again?

What can i do fix the brake booster?

thanx Doug

Answer
Hi
The brake booster is the large round vacuum assisted booster that the brke naster cylinder is bolted to under the hood.
It sounds like the internal bladder may be failed.
The only fix is to replace the booster.
I would also HIGHLY recommend having a second opinion givin by a local shop in your area.
I hope this helps
