Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: cruise control/ gas guage, fuel level sensor, cruise data

Question
I have a 2001 Lesabre custom, 3800 v6. the cruise light comes on but it will not set at any speed, checked fuses, ok. Gas guage floats across entire range e-f. Any info will be greatly appriciated.

The cruise is PROBABALLY the switch located in the steering wheel.
The Fuel level is PROBABALLY the fuel level sensor, located inside the fuel tank.
The Cruise can be easily diagnosed with access to a Scan tool, and just watch the cruise data, and see if switch turns on and off.
It IS a common problem though.
The level sensor is also fairly common. If unplugged it should go full empty. If gerounded it should go full full.
