Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 2000 lesabre speedometer, vehicle speed sensor, hall effect switch

How do you test the speedometer sensor? Speedometer reads eratical. thanks

Hi
The BEST way or advice is to take it to a good shop your familiar with and have them hook it to a scan tool.
The vehicle speed sensor will be a live data, and they will be able to see any flucuations in the data.
Other that that it is a Hall effect switch and produces an a/c current. You could either check with a volt meter, and see if it is producing an a/c signal OR hertz reading on the scale.
