Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Service Engine Soon, poor fuel economy, misty elliott

I have a 1993 Buick Regal and the Service Engine Soon light just came on.  Does it have to be seen about immediately or can it wait?  I don't want to be driving down the road and my car blow up on me.  This is a fairly new vehicle since my divorce and I need to know.

You can take it to any Nation wide auto parts store (auto zone, NAPA, advanced, etc,,,) or MOST nationwide repair shops (Meineke, Midas, Pepboys, etc..) and have it scanned for free.
They'll let you know how serious or urgent the code is.
No it will not blow up, but it could cause much more damage without being checked. It could also stall and leave stranded, poor fuel economy and other symptoms.
Take it in and at least have it scanned and ask the Mechanics how urgent it is or if you can wait a few.
