Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 98 olds intrigue no start, theft deterrent system, injector pulse

Question
Well for starters the car is a 98 olds intrigue 3L v6 auto trans. I am a tech as well but no nothing about this brand of vehicle. Ok the vehicles battery goes dead so we try to jump start and the key turns but no crank. So I check fuses and relays and everything is good there. I check the starter by jumping the terminals at the relay and the vehicle will then crank and attempt to start and then die so I think ok maybe no fuel so i jump the fuel pump and that is working but something is shutting the system down no injector pulse to keep the car running and of course the ignition is being bypassed. Also the security light is flashing the whole time. Does the factory security system have an overide and will shut down the vehicle? please help also have no way to read codes

Answer
Hi
Your assumptions are correct.
The factory Theft deterrent system is shutting off fuel pulse (Fuel Enable is Off).
Here is the relearn you can attempt to see if the theft deterrent has lost the correct or valid code.
Also if this DOES NOT work, you will need to check it for codes. It COULD be either the BCM, PCM or ignition switch.
Also make sure you have the proper key.
If the battery is bad, you MAY want to invest in a good fully charged battery. DO NOT try this with a jump box, or charger on battery, it will not work.

Theft Deterrent Re-Learn Without Scan Tool or Techline Equipment
This procedure takes approximately 30 minutes. Make sure the battery is fully charged before proceeding.

Turn the ignition switch off.
Turn the ignition switch all the way from the off to the start position, then leave it in the on position. Note: The engine will not crank.
The SECURITY will come on and stay on for at least 10 minutes.
Turn the ignition switch off for five seconds.
Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 again for a second time.
Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 again for a third time.
Turn the ignition switch off.
Turn the ignition switch all the way to the start position. The engine should now start.
Check for BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
