Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: front end problems, oldsmobile aurora, 1996 oldsmobile aurora

Question
I have a 1996 oldsmobile aurora.  I bought it used with 54,000 miles on it.  It started vibrating real bad when you make a left or right turn.  The left especially.  Almost as if the tire is rubbing against something.  I took it to Gate Way today and they drove it and said everything was tight and looked good.  Although they did say that it was vibrating real bad on turning(while aplying the brake).  They said more than likely it is something to do with the power steering but they couldn't tell me for sure.  I am supposed to take it to a G.M. dealer and let them look at it but they acted like they have never had to deal with that before so i don't know if they will be any help.  If you have ever had to deal with this problem(the front end vibrating real bad when applying the brake in a left(more) and right turn) could you please let me know.  Thanks a million.

Answer
If the tires are worn unevenly, or the road is wet, the antilock brakes activating could make a noise like that, especially if the brake application is trying to slide the tires.
Did you ride with them when they checked it? If not, next test ride, you drive, so you can show them.
But if it is the ABS, it could be acting normal.

Another thing to think about is, are the rear brakes working? If they aren't, and only the front ones are braking the car, that could do it also.
