Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Intermittent starting problem/fuel pump relay, oldsmobile lss, fuel pump relay

Question
Hi. My 1996 Oldsmobile Lss is having some intermittent starting problems. When the problem first presented itself, the fuel pump relay would "click" extremely fast continously, and the car would not start. The engine would turn over just fine, but as long as the relay was clicking it would not start. When the clicking stopped (when it just decided) the car would start up just fine and run fine. Lately, there is no clicking from the relay, but from time to time, the engine will just turn over and not start. If i change the relay with another one, it will start just fine. Some time later the problem will present itself again, and I can put back the first relay, and it will start with that one. Any suggestions? Is there some way to bypass the relay all together, hotwiring something? Thanks for you help.

Answer
One of the connections in the socket that the relay plugs into iscorroded, dirty, or just loose.
Changing the relays temporarily corrects the poor connection problem.
You could probably just pull the relay out, and stick it back in and do the same thing.

You can get those contacts out and squeeze them to make a tighter connection.
