Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 97 Buick Regal - Turn signal kills the engine, battery cables, buick regal

Question
This happened just the other night.  I first noticed that some of my indicator lights on the dash would light up intermittently.  I didnt think much of it.  Then when I engaged my turn signal either direction my entire dash - would go dark and the speedometer and tachometer would zero out or jump around.

When I engage the turn signal to the right while the engine is idling, the speedometer and tachomoter jump around and I can here a buzzing noize.  When I engage the turn signal to the left while idling, the engine will quit and dash will go blank until I disengage the turn signal.

I took it to a local auto shop to try and troubleshoot and noticed that when I turn on the headlights while idling, again the engine will quit.  The speedometer, fuel gauge, and tachometer tend to jump around wildly for about the first 30 seconds after starting the car.

When I am driving at an appreciable speed - over about 20-30mph the engaging the turn signal will make the engine quit and then it will pick back up again if i disengage the turn signal before slowing down.

At this point, I have checked all fuses both in under the hood and in the dash.  I have also cleaned and reattached the battery cables and grounds.  The battery voltage w/o a load is 12 V and when the engine was running I had 14 volts.

Also, the engine will no longer start.

I have no idea what could be causing this problem.

Answer
That has just about got to be a loose connection, that is barely carying enough power for some systems, and as others are added, it is overloading.
I would check where the wires come thru the firewall.
The fusable links should also be checked.

The ignition switch itself, and its connector are close on the list also.
