Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Century cuts out and stalls when I put it in gear, torque converter clutch, torque converter clutch solenoid

Question
I have a 92 buick century, it will idle but the second you put it into gear it cuts out and stalls, we replace the plugs, fuel pump, and filters, checked the o2 sensor and I don't know what else to do.

Answer
Hi Donna,
I would have for sure had you test the fuel pressure before replacing that pump.
I would be looking for a vacuum leak, such as the EGR valve sticking, the power booster on the brakes leaking, or any other vacuum accessories.

There is also the possibility your torque converter clutch solenoid is sticking, allowing the torque converter clutch to stay engaged, which would act like direct drive from the engine, and could cause dying at idle.
