Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: repairing tension pulley spring, buick park ave, coolant pump

Question
I have a 97 buick park ave ultra supercharge and yesterday one of the engine belts broke.  The belt that broke controls the generator, power steering pump, coolant pump, and air conditioning compressor.  I replaced the belt but it keeps slipping off the tensioner.  How do I keep it on? And if it needs to be replaced how do i get to it to replace it?

Answer
Hello Tamika,
First, make sure it is routed correctly.
Then, if the tensioner isn't working, it probably needs replaced.

Some of them seem hard to get to, but that is just the way it is when they pack all that stuff under the hood. May be a task you want to farm out.
Some Buicks actually need the motormount removed to replace the belt.
