Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 93 Buick Regal 3.8 electrical, buick regal, auto parts store

I have a 93 buick regal 3.8l V-6.  I replaced the battery and the alternator then went back to the auto parts store where they ran an electrical test.  The machine said that there was no charge comming from the alternator.  What do your think might be the problem?  Thanks

Older version alternatore required excitation from the light in the instrument cluster to turn the alternator on, then the regulator took over.
if the bulb was burned out, it wouldn't charge.
See if the light comes on when the ignition switch is turned on, or turned to start.
