Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: engine full of gas, fuel pressure regulator, throttle body injection

Question
!1987 oldsmobile 98 --3.8 motor(172,000). i got this car free and i am atempting to get it drivable. thiss car has sat for 2 years. I got it started and it ran but the rpm's would not go up. I drove it 2 miles sputtering and it died. I towed the 98 home. Popped open the the first spark plug and gas came shoooting out!So i was thinking maybe fuel pressure regulator. So I took the vacuum line off it- no fuel getting past the diaphram. Not sure how to read fuel pressure psi side is 11.5 and kpa(?)is 8.Have not found specifactions yet. Is it 40-80 pounds?next possible bad part-ecm or fuel injectors stuck? thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Brian,
Being an 87, I would expect it is throttle body injection, which looks a lot like a modified carb, and you can look right down in at the injectors. If one is stuck open, you should be able to see it when someone turns the key to run.
If an injector isn't leaking, I would suspect the throttle body needs gaskets and o rings.

As for the 11.5 PSI, that is close enough on a TBI, especially if it has a big fuel leak.
Look at those injectors, and fix what is needed, and the pressure will probably even out at about 13 PSI while running, which is just dandy.
