Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 98 Buick Lesabre heating problem, full size chevy, gm forum

Question
I have a 98 Buick Lesabre Limited with Dual climate control. Since it has started to get cold I noticed that it only blows out cool air until I turn the setting to 90F (max heat) then it blows really hot air. If I turn the setting down it goes cool again. The air conditioning apears to be working correctly. It does redirect air correctly and fan speeds do change. It also does this in either AUTO or Manual modes. The heater supply and return lines are both hot so I do not think it is a clogged core. I do not have any recent repair history since I recently bought the car a couple of months ago. Does this sound like a problem that I will be ble to fix or will a dealer have to look at this?

Answer
Hi Kevin,
That is in an area that I don't have any experience, but if I were to guess, I would say a temp sensor in the dash would be where it might be.
If you go to the public library, to the refference section, they have all types of manuals, including the shop manuals for that car.
It will have a step-by-step troubleshooting section that would be a great help.
Our library has a copy machine, since you can't check out those manuals, but make a copy.

I would sure make some attempts before going to a dealer.

Here is another option....I will send a link to a GM forum. Thousands of GM owners, and service people frequent the forum. Join up...absolutely free, and post your question, and someone else has seen the problem, and will post an answer. You will just love the site.
You can also search...I think I would search with the words "climate control".

Yes...it does say Chevy, but go to full size Chevy cars, and someone will reply....probably dozens.
