Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Olds Alero Blown Head Gasket, blown head gasket, olds alero

My daughters 2001 Olds Alero blew a head gasket this past Friday and we were quoted a start of $1700 to repair it, plus more for the oil change and then whatever it will cost to find out "why" it blew the head gasket. Is it too much to pay for the repair.  The cooland warning light came on and the engine was running hot.  I made my daughter take it to a service station near here college.  She lives 3 hours away.  It has about 130,000 miles on it.  Last year we had a problem of the washer fluid leaking into the anti-freeze.  They flushed and flushed the system and tried to see if it leaked anymore and it did not.  I have a nasty feeling this could have something to do with the blown head gasket...........I am no mechanic by any means.

that is  the reason the headgasket blew the reason you said . That shop should make it right and it is to much for a head gasket job i get in my shop for that car a 1000 and includes oil change and find out the reason it blew the head gasket call around for a better price good luck to u hun pete
