Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: Olds cutlass ciera 1993 tensioner pulley, olds cutlass ciera, tensioner pulley

Question
My son needs to replace the tensioner pulley arm as it is vibrating and making a bad knocking noise when the car is running. Is there a special tool required?

Answer
NO, there is no special tool needed. You will see usually a square knockout in the bracket on the tensioner of which a 1/2 breaker bar will fit into. This is what is used to overcome the tension spring and slip the belt under the tensioner.

A very simple replacement process.

NOTE: Just make SURE that you make a DRAWING of how the belt is currently installed around all the components as once you remove the belt you won't remember how it goes back on.
