Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 94 Olds Cutlass Supreme Doors stuck shut, olds cutlass supreme, child safety locks

Question
Hi Pete,
I am not sure if I should ask you or Tom or if either of you guys can help me. My Cutlass is a 94, 4 door Automatic. Just recently over a period of 2-4 weeks both back doors will not open. They are stuck shut. I do not have child safety locks to my knowledge. The doors refuse to open from the inside or outside. The auto locks seem to be working. When pressed the lock buttons by the handles move up and down. The only thing I can find that might be the cause is the tension seems a little lighter in the two outside, back door handles than the front handles. I took off the door panel and pulled off the plastic and it seemed that all was in order that I could see. The rod seemed to move back and forth to unlock and lock the doors. The other rod moved okay too. I think it was to the door handle itself, not sure. I am wondering if the claw looking device on the door that keeps it shut is stuck. There is no way to get to this claw thing when the door is stuck, ha. The front doors when opened show this metal claw and it is triggered by the handle. Could this be it and how in the heck do you get to it? I am trying to fix it myself because the car itself is not worth a ton and I hate to spend more money on it. (Just had a computer chip replaced in the oil pan area, ouch.)My kids and their friends tend to shut these doors hard so they do get a workout. I just feel very unsafe with the doors stuck. I am afraid kids wouldn't be able to get out if needed. Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.
