I have a 1988 cierra 2.8 v6 that stalls after running for aprox 20 minutes it will restart but when shifted into drive it stalls again. fuel pres is above 40 psi. i am begining to suspect the transmission any help would be greatly appreciated
Answer -
In 80% of all cases such as this the problem seems to be a STUCK TCC (Torque Converter Clutch) SOLENOID that needs to be replaced.
Does this require a transmission tear down or can it be accessed from the outside?

Answer
You can, With a little tilting and turning get the side cover OFF so that you can access the solenoid to replace it.
