Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1998 Olds Cutlass Fuel Guage, olds cutlass, fuel guage

I had an electrical problem with my 98 Cutlass that caused the electric to cut out and on and cause the guages to pop up and down. I replaced the battery and alternater and the problem has gone away.  However, with the guage problem the fuel guage pointer flipped past the full and is now under the pin below E and therefore can't register.  When I turn the engine off the pointer points straight down and when I turn it on it goes up until it hits the bottom of the pin.  What can I do?

This is one I have NOT seen in a long time.

You will have to remove the instrument panel and remove the dasg gage and IF your lucky you can simply lift the pointer over the pin or you might have to replace the gage.

This is NOT an easy repair due to the complexity of removing the instrument cluster.
