Chevrolet Repair: fuel pump wont kick on, fuel pump relay, wont kick

(98 s10 2.2)when I am driving, it shuts off for a split second, then it keeps going. sometimes it turns off and fuel pump will not turn on. Started & alternator are fine. I thought it was the fuel pump & I replaced it with a new pump and fuel filter, but made no difference. I have already checked fuel pump relay.

It sounds like a bad ground or possibly the connector at the pump.  We have had alot of these recently in NY.  When you replaced the pump did you happen to take a look at the connector at the pump.  The for way gray connector.  Should have a gray, purple, and two black wires.  Take a close look at the gray wire.  9 out of 10 times the terminal is either bent or burned and melted.  Give this a try, also check the chassis ground on the passenger side from the battery
