I have a 1989 Olds Cutlass Ciera. When you turn the airconditioning on it doesnt blow air out the vents. If you put your hands close to the vent you can barely feel cold air. How and in what order should I troubleshoot the problem to make sure not to buy parts I dont need? Your knowledge is greatly appreciated!!! This site has helped me many times I would like to say Thanks and great job guys!!!!!
Answer -
Check ALL your switch positions and see if the air is coming out af ANY of the vents.

If you put in on fLOOR, Where does the air come out of ?.

If you put it on dash, Where does the air come out ?.

If you put it on defrost, Where does the aair come out.

I need more specific details.

ALSO:

What mechanical work or ANY kind of work has been performed on the vehicle recently ?. As most problems that occur after a recent repair was made can be traced back to the area of where the repair was made as a vacuum line may have been knocked loose or a wire connection came loose, Look around in the area where work was performed

I checked all switch positions, no air hot or cold comes out any vents or floor or dash. When i turn the a\c on you can hear the compressor kick in but no air comes out anywhere. How do I check the blower switch? I checked all fuses all good . No loose connections that I can see. What should I check next? Your help is greatly appreciated@!!!

Answer
Can you HEAR the blower motor change speeds when you select the different blower speeds on the control panel ?.

Can you physically hear if the blower motor is running at all ?.

IF the blower motor IS RUNNING, Your most likely suspect would be the AIR TEMP VALVE MOTOR of which is NOT opening the air vent to allow the air flow thru the ducts.
