Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: air bag light, denis ribas, autohelp

Hello,
I have a 1997 Olds Bravada with smart drive. Recently the air bag light comes on intermittently.  It comes on normally when I start the car and blinks a few times like it supposed to, then sometimes it goes out and sometimes it stays on for a while then decides to go out.  There does not seem to be any consistency to when it lights and goes out.    Could you give me some insight on what to look for to fix the problem?

NEVER EVER perform ANY diagnostics or work on an AIR BAG system UNLESS you know the proer procedures for de-activating BOTH the battery and backup battery supply systems.

The force of an air bad accidently deployed can KILL YOU DEAD.
