Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: CATALYTIC CONVERTORS, catalytic convertors, faulty computer

I HAVE A 98 OLDS, CHANGED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND WHILE RUNNING, IT TURNED CHERRY RED, WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. IT IDLES A LITTLE ROUGH,
DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS.

In MOST cases when the converters get RED this is a sign of a faulty computer.

Replace the computer and the programming chip in the computer.

HOWEVER, Has there been ANY work done on the vehicle lately ?.
