Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: wont start, fuel pressure gage, changing spark plugs

Question
Ihave a 1986 full-size Oldsmobile with V6 fuel-injection. It ran good until last week when I parked it after a 1 hour trip. It would not start after sitting for a couple hours. It appears to "flood" after just a few seconds of cranking. I pulled the spark plugs and dried them several times. I have good spark on all cylinders but it appears that gas is getting dumped in before it has a chance to fire.
After several hours of checking wires and connectors etc, it started. I drove a few miles and it ran fine. No misfires or backfires. I shut it off and restarted several times. The next morning it did not start and after many more hours of checking and changing spark plugs, it still does not start. Is there a valve or regulator that controls gas flow that could be stuck?  This seems like it should be a simple problem but, I don't know where else to look.    thanks much

Answer
There are numerous possible faults that can cause your no start problem.

IF you have sufficient spark to the spark plugs and you have fuel from the injectors you MUST determine IF the spark is strong enough to properly fire the spark plugs. You may have a WEAK COIL.

You may al;so have HIGH fuel pressure of which you need to install a fuel pressure gage to determine IF you have sufficient fuel pressure and volume.

Does the computer system work correctly ?. does the CHECK ENGINE light illuminate on the dash when you turn ON the ignition key ?.

is the computer system capable of detecting a component fault and turning ON the CHECK ENGINE light ?.

1. determine that the computer system is fully operational.

2. test the fuel pressure and volume.

3. Test for adequate spark to the sparl plugs.

Run the above tests and let me know what you find.
