Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 94 Lesabre Issues, crank sensor, lesabre custom

Question
I have a 94 Lesabre Custom that has been giving me all kinds of problems. First, the heater was blowing cold air even after the engine was warm. I figured out that one pretty easily. I was losing water. When the Serv Eng Soon light lit, I stopped and found water all over the front of the engine, especially around the water pump. So my obvious thought was to replace it. After doing so and filling the radiator, I found that it was not the pump but rather a broken plastic fitting that sits behind and below the alternator. I believed that this was also the cause of the car stalling during harder than normal braking, turning, or both. This gets pretty scary on the interstate!! LOL But after replacing the fitting, it still stalls. I read some of the other questions that you have answered and I'm thinking of changing the crank sensor. This is a big job for an ameture like myself so I was wondering if there is anything else I should consider first. Also, my vetilation blows nice and strong at any temperature I want, but it only blows through the dash and door defrost vents and the floor. How do I get it to blow through the front of the dash? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Answer
hi robert, well let,s see the heat is controlled bye vacum motors under the dash each time you make a change in your hvac a seperate vacum motor will open or close a different heater door.since the defroster and the floor work this tells us there is vacum at the control switch,so knowing this it is safe to assume there is a problem with the vac motor that is for the vent position, most likely under the dash where you will find several silver vac motors each will have one or two vac hoses .one is not hooked up .  ok stalling on brake or turn usually means the car is loseing fuel pressure temporarilly.which normally is a fuel tank prob.however if you have read up on these cars cranksensor causes a very large portion of the stalls. and we really can,t rule it out here but check all lines around the eng compartment especially the charcoal canister. hope this helps please rate my help ty billymac
