Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 89 Rivi not warming up and blows cold air only, buick riviera, guages

Question
Hi Billy,
I have an 89 Buick Riviera. It blows cold air only, no heat. According to the guages, the car is only warming up to 133 F. I just put a new thermostat in, nothing changed. The coolant mixture checked out good for -30 degrees. I am out of ideas. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Answer
hey brian, wow this is strange,at 133 degrees the t stat should not even open at all.possibly cooling fans are stuck on.do you hear them running all the time.try turning heat completely off does temp rise.possibly a bad tekmp sensor.as the riviera has a thermostat internally and will adjust water flow accordingly to temp sensor reading.feel the hoses on the eng make sure the engine is actually 133 degrees.it may not be.maybe the temp sensor and heater malfuntioning.if the eng is warm as in ran for half hour or so.touch the radiator hoses.upper and lower are they the same temp.at 185 degrees you will be able to hold your hand on hoses but will not be comfortable.if you can hold onto the hoses not 185 if not not a cooling system prob.be sure and bleed cooling system completely. good luck please vote for me.billymac
