Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 97 Buick LeSabre brake warning light, brake warning light, buick lesabre

Question
Billy:  My brake warning lights have gone on, with a steady ring.  It recently snowed heavily here and I'm wondering if the salt, snow, etc may cause a sensor problem.

The brakes actually don't feel bad in use.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Dave

Answer
hi dave ,yes we get that a lot here in michigan also.the abs light will come on when the wheels slide.the sensors are supposed to stop the wheels from locking up and possibly skidding.but unfortuneately they cannot do this on ice .even if you don,t feel your wheels lock up they do like when backing out ofthe driveway .the manufacturers suggest pulling over shutting eng off and restarting.if this works nothing wrong if not then possibly a bad wheel sensor or ice packed between the sensors.if no ice then should be checked.hope this helps you please rate my help ty billymac
