Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: water pump-thermostat 97 acheiva, acheiva, radiator hose

trying to find out how to take out and replace thermastat and or water pump due to leakage but can find no spots were it is actually leaking.  Do know that the thermastat is on the waterpump on the bottom of engine and what is the difficulty in fixing this?

I haven't worked on any Achievas, but I would be surprised if the thermostat is near the bottom of the engine. They are to the best of my knowledge, always where the top radiator hose connects to the engine.
But before anything is replaced, you need to get where you can see the leak, weather using mirrors, lights, or a combination.
Get in a dark area so the only light is the one you direct where you want to see. Sunlight, or room lights behind you make it difficult to see in a small mirror, but in the dark, it works well.
Find the weep hole in the bottom of the waterpump shaft housing, and see if it is leaking.
Look at the hose connections also.
