Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: car has been sitting for 6 months, buick le sabre, basicly

Question
My grandfather has a 1987 Buick Le Sabre that has been sitting dormant for about 6 months.  He is no longer able to drive and wants my 16 year old to have it.  Since it has not been cranked in at least 6 months, are there any precautions I should take, such as fresh fluids, gas, etc.  Of course, the battery is dead and will have to be jumped off.  Any pointers or things to watch out for since it has been dormant for so long?  It has a V6, 2400, I think and auto trans. He says that the brakes were making a noise the last time he drove it, but that everything else was ok.
