Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1991 Olds Cutlass Ceira, olds cutlass, crank case

Question
My 1991 Olds is having problems starting. Its got a 3.3 engine. Did the new spark plugs and wires. Had the Crank case sensor changed and still has a hard starting problem. The problem is that I do not hear the fuel pump kick in until after trying to start it on the 4th try. The mechanic said that there was enough pressure from it and thats not the problem. What makes the fuel pump trigger to make the humming noise? As soon as I hear it. It starts.

Answer
hi bill.well you are exactly right and so is your mech.the pump has plenty of pressure but it is not kicking on everytime you turn your key on.when you turn your key on it sends power to the relay which closes and powers the pump.your relay will be under the hood in a relay center.replace the relay.good luck please take time to rate my service ty billymac
