Question - Hi Pete, thanks for the prompt reply.  Do you know the name of that special tool by chance?  Also, thanks for compliment; my first name is short for Kathryn, my mother's name, and MUSE, of course, was from father.  We have traced the MUSE family back to 1633 in Virginia and I'm very proud of it.  (I'm in Tennessee; where are you?)  Kay
Belt came off and we cannot figure how to release or loosen any of the "cylinders" to allow us to replace the belt.  Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Car is 1990 Buick LeSabre V6 with a 3800 (I think) engine.

You will see a pully with a spring on it you have to have a special tool for this u can get a the auto parts store u put it on the bolt and pull back it is very easy one u finf the pully it should be the one closet to crank .

it is called a serptine belt tool they will know just what u are talking about at the parts store it looks like a long open end wrench with just a open end it also as differnt ends what u can put on . good luck to u again i am in rochester ny
