Sounds like a fuel problem. Check the fuse first, but see if the pump is running in the tank. Might also be the filter.
Van...................Thank you for the answer but i have no clue where the fuel pump is, would u know where i could locate it?

Answer
Hi Dewaine,
A 91 Grand Am I am sure is fuel injected, and thus, the fuel pump is inside the fuel tank.
When the ignition switch is turned to run, the pump should run for about three seconds, and then stop if the engine isn't turning over.
If the engine is cranking, or running, a crank signal is sent to the computer, which then runs the pump for as long as it gets that signal, which is all the time the engine is running.
If you get back by the fuel tank, and have someone just turn the key to run,(not try to start it, but just to run,), you should be able to hear a buzzzz, or hummm from the tank area....but remember, just for three seconds. Then turn the key off, wait a few seconds, and turn it on again, and you should hear another three seconds of hummm.
If you hear it, the pump is running, but you may have a dirty filter, which is in the line bolted to the frame.
The only way to really know if the pump is pumping correctly is with a pressure test kit.

Now, if you can't hear any hummm, the fuse may be blown, the wires may be loose, or the pump may be bad. Checking for voltage with a test light or volt meter at the tank connector is the way to check for power.
Good luck,
Van
