Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: R & R Electric Window Regulator in 93 Olds Cutlass Ceira, olds cutlass, interior side

Question
The window is up and will not open.  There is voltage to the switch and it appears to be working.  There is a slight clicking noise coming from the unit when it is operated.  I cannot see how to remove the window or the regulator.  It appears to be pop riveted in place rather than bolted.  I think the regulator is installed before the outer skin of the door is put on as there does not seem to be any room to remove it from the interior side of the door.  The only way I can see to replace the regulator is to cut the door stiffener out and then replace it after installing the new regulator.  Also, how do you contain the window while replacing the regulator?  Do you pull it out or somehow pin it in the closed or up position?

Thanks,
Mark

Answer
Hi Mark,
Actually, you drill out the rivets, and replace them later with bolts. it will come out of there.
Instructions come with replacement motors, so see if your favorite parts house will open a motor box, and let you see the instructions to decide if you want to tackle it.
