Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 1996 Olds Cutlass Fusable Link, olds cutlass ciera, olds cutlass

Question
Hello Van.  I have a 96 Olds Cutlass Ciera V6 with power windows/locks and A/C.  One of the three fusable links by the battery has burned.  The affected known items are headlights, brake lights, radio and door locks.  The power windows still work.  Any thoughts on the possible problems?

Thanks very much!!!

Answer
Hi Tim,
I would check for a short in the headlight system. I believe the tail lights and brake lights are protected by a smaller fuse in the fuse block, even if it is supplied by that link, and shouldn't blow the link.
But the headlights I believe only have that fuse link.
The switch, dimmer switch, and wires are the possibilities.
You could remove the smaller fuses from the block for each of the mentioned items, replace the link with a temporary inline fues, maybe even slightly smaller, and see which system blows it.
Be sure to check on both hi and low beam.
