Hi.
My vehicle "thumps" when driving. Mostly when turning the wheel, even slightly. It will sometimes do it if I "jump" into my seat when entering the car.
I have had all kinds of parts replaced.  Including axles, etc.
Now I am told it is probably my Transfer Case. But they can't tell me what is happening.
Can you?

thanks!
Ruth

Hi Ruth,
Sounds like the mounting bushings, or just the bolts are loose.
Also sounds a little like a loose shock.

Van,
I would agree, but all those things have been checked. And new shocks were put on. I've had 5 mechanics look at it. If you are sitting in the passenger seat, you can actually feel it when it happens. It's been going on for over 2 years now, can u believe? So nothing has fallen out...any other ideas?

Thanks
Ruth

Answer
Hi Ruth,
Have a pretty good sized person go to the rear of the vehicle, and rather than trying to push up and down, have him push sideways. There is a snap clip retaining the rear axles inside the differential, and there is bound to be a little slack there, which would be normal. You can also jack the rear end off the ground, and push&pull the rear wheels. See if that is the noise.
