Plymouth Repair: banging in reverse, plymouth sundance, rear wheels

Question
hi!  I just purchased a used 94 plymouth sundance 2.5l.  It only has a little under 90000 miles onit and is in excelent shape the only problem is when you put it in reverse it makes a really load banging noise thats sounds like you hit someone.  I have no clue what is doing it.  My husband said make sure i was complettley stoped but this nose even happens when you back out of a parking space.  please see if you can tell me what is wrong?

Answer
Hello Patty

this could be something very simpile check the rear of the van to see if the struts are tight . and also backing plates on rear wheels and see if your husband can lift or jack the van up and roate the tires or wheels in reverse by hand to see if you can find where the bang id comeing from.
Could be reverse gear in tranny also but check that out first then get back to me hun pete
