Pontiac Repair: wasting money i dnt have

Question
QUESTION: Hello. Well I have a 95 Pontiac Bonneville se my oil gauge keeps fluctuating. And wen it get low my car cuts off the car is very quiet runs smooth I've replaced sending unit,oil level sensor, oil pump kit and its still fluctuates I'm at my breaking point now could u have any idea what's causing this issue??

ANSWER: Hi Shay:

if you indeed have low oil pressure on this engine and it was verified with a mechanical guage and not just the one on the dash there is an internal engine failure due to worn out bearings. More then likley cam shaft bearings. This is a VERY expensive repair and the engine needs to be removed to have this job done. being that this car is 19 years old you need to seriously look at wether the repair VS what the car it worth and look at that. If you want to keep the car I would look at a used engine to put in the car find one from the same year with low mialge and go that route in the long tun it will be cheaper! Good luck :-}

QUESTION: Well my mechanic say that it. Could be the gauge itself and to try an hooking up another gauge
your thoughts please

Answer
I would go that route first and foremost if a mechanical guage shows low pressure then there is an issue with the engine. if it has goot pressure then either the new sender you had put in is bad or the guage on the dash is bad.

I did answer you back right away before I must not have hit "send" sorry
