Pontiac Repair: Freeze plugs, pontiac montana, freeze plugs

Question
I was wondering if you had any information on how to replace the right side rear freeze plugs on a 2001 Pontiac Montana 3.4 liter v6

Answer
Hi Nicky:

In order for that jobto be correctly the tranmsission eeds to be removed and a freeze plug installed in the block. There really isn't much room in between the engine and the transmission on that van. If you have really really small hands an expandable rubber freeze plug may work for you but those are only a temp fix they do not last. Like I said there isn't any roomto work to get you hands in there to #1 knock out the old leaking one and #2 get the new one up and in there to tighten the nut on the plug to expand it. It's not a fun job!
