Pontiac Repair: head lights, head lamps, fuse box

Question
I have a 99 grand am 4 cycle and my battery light kept coming on so I came out for work and it wouldn't start. I replaced the alternator and as I was driving I heard a pop and my headlights went out Replaced the fuses and the headlights and dash lights still don't work . What should I do next?.

Answer
Hi Tierra:

So you have no head lamps and no dash lights. how about parking lights both front and rear? that car has separate fuses for the rh and lh headlamps in the under hood fuse box. if neither of them are blown I would look an possibly a headlamp switch it's self. if you got an aftermarket alternator for this all best are off as to what the issues could be if it's charging too much it can cause all kinds off issues. It may just be a coincidence that this happened right after the replacement or it could be a result that of the replacement.
