Pontiac Repair: 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix headlights, pontiac grand prix, lamp switch

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix and the headlights quit working.  When I turn off the engine and take the key out it chimes as if the headlights are still on. What could be the problem?

Hi Thomas:

Is sounds like possibly a bad head lamp switch that maybe the contacts in the switch are broken off and the headlamps will not work but body module thinks the switch is left on due to bad switch contact causing the chime to keep going off. with out seeing it I can't tell you for sure but headlamp switches were sort of a common issue with those cars. good luck :-)
