Pontiac Repair: 99 Pontiac Sunfire Issues, pontiac sunfire, hood latch

Question
Hello,
Recently I bought a 99 Pontiac sunfire 2.2. It has 185,000 miles on it, and has been running great til we changed the oil in it. Now its losing oil like crazy, but there are no spots in the driveway, or pools of oil under the hood, suggesting any leaks. I had a mechanic tell me the motor was shot, and to just buy another car, because it was burning oil. The check engine light hasnt come on though, and there isnt any smell of burning oil.
I also have a headlight ( the passenger side) that decided it didnt want to work right all of a sudden. We were hoping changing the bulb would fix it (even though it was lit...it was just dimmed) well the new light did it too. The driver side light still works fine.
Last thing....I hope!
Over the summer I had AC problems. We tried putting freon in it, and it stayed cold for maybe a couple days. Then we tried the stop leak/freon, and again only stayed cold a couple days. Then we tried the dye to try and find the leak, and found nothing.

Answer
Hi kris:

Well with that many more on it if it's burning oil it's not worth fixing that engine. if the car is in good shape replace the engine with a low milage used engine from the junk yard. Not the anser your looking for but with that many miles on it any repair you make to the engine is juat a band aid. As for the light you have an issue with the forward lamp harness most likley a bad splice in the harness either right in the middle by the hood latch or behinf the washer fluid bottle where the harness comes though the body. VERY common on that car. As for the a/c if you put a tracer dye in it and don't see any leaks any where it could be leaking inside the a/c box in the car The evaporator core could be your leak. The condensers leak on those as well that is in front of the radiator and it could be leaking where it tucked in behind the body and you don't see it last thing is the nose of the a/c compressore where the clutch is also a likely leak area. good luck :-)
