Pontiac Repair: Electical Issue, head lamps, dash lights

Question
What would cause the dash lights on my 2003 grand prix to dim when I shift from to reverse or drive? I have also noticed that it has weak start after short trips.

well first off if you have a wek battery start there. a battery that is on it's way out can casue all kinds of strange issues with a car. on these cars they have issues with the battery leaking acid out of the (=) post and the acid wicks into the cable that can cause lots of issues as well. If that is the case it's obvious you will see corrosion all over the cable. As far as the lights diming is it possable that the auto headlighst are comming on and that is why you see the light dim? they are going from on to being back lit from the head lamps. I'll assume you notice it in the radio more then anything else?
