Pontiac Repair: Belt Tensioner, belt tensioners, gm dealership

QUESTION: How many different types of belt tensioners can go on a 1992 Pontiac Grand AM ?  Why am I still looking ? How can I get an answer so that I can get it fixed. We checked the VIN you provided and it shows that your vehicle is a 1992 Pontiac Grand Am SE with 4 cylinder 2.3 liter engine. Regarding the Tensioner,   Does this help???   Waiting Reply   Bob

ANSWER: Hi Bob:

Well I'm not a parts guy so I can't really help you on the part #. but I would think that both of the quad 4 engines have the same tensioner. both the single and double over head cam engines would use the same tensioner. The V6 is completly different that is for a 3.3 liter engine.

I am an expert in repairs. Not a parts expert. A phone call to ANY GM dealership and ask for the PARTS department they will be able to look up the part you need to fix your car. I can tell you how to replace the tensioner but I have no access to looking up parts that is why we have a parts department separate from service. I wish I could help you but it's not my job to look things up I just fix them. sorry if your mislead by my credentials as a technician.
