Pontiac Repair: 95 pontiac Bonneville, no oil pressure

Question
I gave my Pontiac a tune up and when I tried running it the motor wasn't receiving any oil. I replaced the oil pump with a new nd it still not receiving any oil. Do u have any idea of wat it could be?

Answer
Hi Jerry:

How do you know you have an oil pressure issue? Did this crop up out of the blue. I'll assume the red oil light is on on the dash? Does this car have a gauges cluster and it doesn't show oil pressure. Have you put a mechanical gauge on this to actaully check for no pressure? These engines have a unique oil pump in the front cover and if the pump was replaced and Not primed or if the front timing cover is damaged it will not have any or low pressure. To prime that pump I always use axle grease and pack the gears of the pump full then put the metal plate back over the pump and then reassemble it. Good luck :-)
