Pontiac Repair: 2006, sv6 Montana-- hitching., torque converter clutch, fuel injection system

Question
Hi Todd,
Here is my delima. When I am crusing along between 35mi to 40mi per hour with no amount of pressure on the gas pedal my van starts to hitch.Although the hitching is not continuious,it is always there on an intermittent basis and is most noticeable at the lower speeds. I thought at first it might be the transmission, but I was told there were no codes on the computer that would indicate transmission problems.Thought it might be in the fireing, installed new plugs, wires checked out fine and the fuel injection system was vaccumed.I am the second owner of the vehicle and from all of the papers of previous maintance there is nothing to indicate that problem existed before. Forgot to mention the van has 78000 miles on it.Would really appreciate your expertise on this situation. Thank you and may God Bless.
John.

Answer
Hi john:

this can be transmission related try this when it's doing it hold the gas stead and ride the brake pedal ever so slightly and see if it goes away. If it does it could be an issue with the torque converter clutch in the transmission. when this is hot does the transmission shift hard? the transmission in these van had issues with the pressure control solenoid which controls the shift line pressure which effect the way the transmission feels when it shifts and ultimately can effect the TCC apply. The ignition system parts yu replaced on this was it before the problem occured chasing the issue or did it happen after the parts were changed. a lot of times AFTERMARKET parts like plugs and wires can cause more issues then they fix.
