Pontiac Repair: dying while driving, crank shaft position sensor, shaft position

hi i just replaced the fuel filter and pump in our pontaic bonneville 95 and were about to change the thermostat wat it does is we will be driving asnd the the rpms will fall and the car will just die on us do you have any suggestions

when it does does it stip sputter and cough then die or is it like someone just turned the key off? If it spits and sputters I would look at a fuel deliver issue. maybe a fuel pump that is going bad when it gets hot. if it just cuts out and dies I would look at a crank shaft position sensor.
