Pontiac Repair: 2002 Pontiac Grand Am Starting Issues, turn signal switch, battery cables

Question
2002 Pontiac Grand Am V6 3400 engine.
2 weeks ago car wouldn't start (would not turn over, just the typical click down at the starter). Everything else (lights, radio, windows, worked fine). Checked the battery and it was fine. Removed the starter and took it for testing. They said it was fine. Purchased and replaced the ignition switch per auto parts store suggestion. Still the same thing, would not turn over. Rechecked battery, cables, everything seemed fine. Figured it HAD to be the starter, bought a new one, replaced it and it started right up. So I took the original starter back, they tested it again and said it was indeed bad. I also removed the new ignition switch, put the original back in and took the new one back for credit. Car started and ran fine for two weeks. Now the same thing happened, will not turn over, just the click down at the starter. However this time the windows do not always function, there is a strange electrical sound in the speakers when hitting window up/down. Radio and dash lights do strange things. Took the starter back in and they tested it (several times after I reminded them about the last time) and they assure me it is good. They suggested the starter relay, I swapped it with the same one used on the cooling fan. Still will not turn over and still have crazy electrical. What are the odds that it is indeed the ignition switch this time? PS - Like most Grand Am's we also have the fast clicking in the dash (hazzard switch and/or turn signal switch from what I have read). Now the hazzard switch really makes a constant buzz when pressed in. I disconnected this and obviously it stopped but did not fix anything else. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jeff

Answer
Hey Jeff:

well there are a few things to try first off try starting it in "neutral" and see what ahhens if it still just clicks then it's probably not the safety switch. if it does crank that what the issue is. next check your battery cables if the are correded at all then replace them. either the starter isn't getting enough battery volatge to turn the motor or the "crank signal" is not stron enoughto pull the starter solenoid in to allow the motor to turn over. you can have someone crank the car and see what you have for volatge at the purple wire at the starter it should be battey volatge. if it is it's not a issue with the ignition switch or the wiring from that out to the starter. then I would look long and hard at the cables. good luck :-)

P.S. Did you or did you not replace the battery?
