Pontiac Repair: pontiac 1996 2.3l Quad4 DOHC-engine stop, pontiac trans sport, quad engine

Hello, I have a Pontiac Trans Sport 1996, 2.3l, motor Quad4 DOHC 16v.
when engine is cold... starts.. and stops after 2-3 minutes. Start again only if I let it sit for 2-3 hours. What is the problem?

Wow that is a mutt I have only seen a couple of those with a quad engine in them. What happens when this stalls out does it spit chug and stall or does it quit just like someone turned the key off? It makes a difference is what direction to start looking at either fule or spark as tro what the engine is missing to make it stall out. Has any service engine soon lamp come on while it's running? If so stop by one of the big box autoparts stores and have the van scanned for codes and see what if any codes are stored in the engine computer.  let me know...
