Pontiac Repair: 05 Pontiac G6 washer pump, pontiac g6, continuity test

Question
The washer pump stopped working, and before I replace it, I thought I would check the fuses.  The fuses are OK (visual inspection as well as a continuity test), but I am not getting any continuity from the wiper diode. If I remove the diode, the wipers still work.  Does this diode control the pump? The diode in question is in position 27 in the engine fuse compartment.

Answer
Hi Paul:
The diode is not for the washer pump. a quick test is to unplug the squirt pump and put a 12V yest light across the t ckts and activate the pump and see if the light lights if it light the lamp bright it needs a pump. chances are that's all that is wrong with it. if when you pust the squirts/washer lever and the wipers go on but no pump it's usually a pump issue and nothing else.. good luck :) The diode is for backfeeding of power when the wiper motor is turned off it has nothing to do with the washer pump at all.
